1979 Yamaha DT175MX 2X2
I got this 79 DT175MX as a perfectly usable running taxed and tested matching numbers bike, it was a bit of a bitsa with 78 clocks and side panels and a box section swinging arm. However its to be a restoration that I am going to do in Yamaha French Blue an original 79 colour. Its now stripped and in boxes awaiting the collection of parts to complete the restoration, here are a just a few pictures of the bike as it came to me. The bike should be completed for around October 2011.
As of April 2012 im still collecting parts although the engine is finished, just the addition of a standard size bore cylinder and genuine Yamaha piston kit to suit was needed as the previous owner had just rebuilt the engine with a fresh crank rebuild all new bearings and seals etc. The frame is blasted refinished and semi assembled, the airbox and oiltank are fitted along with the new rear suspension and correct tubular type swinging arm then bubble wrapped and put away till everything else is sourced . The bike is now finished as of March 2014. It has turned out just like the Red 1980 model in the previous pages, a lovely old bike as new. I will ad some picture of the finished bike when I get time.

Here are a just a small amount of the new mostly genuine Yamaha cosmetic parts that i have collected so far, not in the pictures are lots of unobtainium for these bikes. Stuff like brand new cable guides brand new side panels brand new rear brake rod etc etc
Take no notice of the marks, they are a trick of the light from the flash on the 2K lacquer when the picture was taken, I used genuine Yamaha decals on the tank.
