1990 YAMAHA DT125R 3RN2

This 1990 DT125R was an ebay find that I was the only bidder on and won, probably because it was was an off roader. However it was very original as you can see and I thought it had potential as its a matching numbers bike. It belonged to a Police officer in Preston and was a perfectly fine road bike when he got it, he then had turned into an off roader for his teenage son and was then used a few times then left unused due to lack of interest just started and ran every now and again until he decided to sell it on Ebay. As you can see from the first few pictures the bike is totally original save for the usual DEP exhaust system that will probably be replaced with an original item, it even has most of the original decals still fitted and for a 23 year old DT that's rare in its self and a sign that its been looked after to me. So apart from the missing road gear, lights speedometer etc its a very good base for a resto. It still has brand new original fitment Bridgestone TW road legal trail tyres fitted and the complete uncut wiring loom was still fitted tucked into the battery box. I'm steadily collecting the parts like original decals and plastics, this isn't as easy as you would think for a 24 year old DT125R some of the decals alone seem to be like gold dust. Here is the pictures of the bike as I got her and just a few of what I have managed to collect so far. Up till now all I need for her is one side cover decal and a set of rear foot pegs and the time to get round to doing it. So for now its in boxes.........

Well she is all finished now as of October 2014 and running like a dream ready for the mot, hope you like it, in the end its taken nearly 2 years just find the decals for her. Its rebuilt from the frame up, first oversize rebore piston and rings, new clutch. All new genuine Yamaha bodywork. Brand new front brake calliper and pads, refurbed rear calliper, refinished fuel tank etc etc. I even managed to track down a genuine red seat strap for it. Basically its like a brand new bike if you can replace it its been replaced, she looks like shes just wheeled out of the dealership new today.

Watch this space for a Red Silver/Grey version of the same bike soon once I have collected all the new parts.
